#togetherwecan Comedy Night... A Rip-Roaring Success

The Malden Overcoming Addiction #togetherwecan Comedy event was held this past Thursday, May 16.  With the help of Dave Russo and Friends, our many sponsors, and those attending the event MOA presented a very successful fundraiser and an awesome night for all.

The doors opened for this incredible event at 6:00, with over 300 people in attendance.  To start the night off, Henry’s Catering in Malden provided delicious food for everyone attending the event.

After dinner the program kicked off with MC Dana Brown welcoming MOA board members, city and state officers, and special guests.  MOA Treasurer Domenic DiSario introduced the many Platinum, and Gold Sponsors along with the list of volunteers.

MC Dana then introduced the speakers for the evening; Mayor Gary Christenson, Senator Jason Lewis, and Malden Police Chief Kevin Molis.  All the speakers expressed their continued support for MOA and the work being done to make the Bridge Recovery Center a reality.

MOA President Paul Hammersley spoke next and expressed his gratitude to the room full of supporters.  He talked about the impact Mayor Gary Christenson had on his life and how he is grateful that he can pay it forward today.  He also talked about the continued work needed and pushing forward for the Bridge Recovery Center.

To round out the speakers, three young men spoke about their journey through the disease and into recovery.  Colin, Dan, and Ronnie spoke about the devastation the disease of addiction, the impacts on their family, their relationships and their lack of desire to live.  The words of these brave men clearly effected the crowd in an emotional way.

Dana then introduced the main attraction Dave Russo and friends.  Dave got the laughter started and he was followed by six other wonderfully funny comedians.  There was lots of laughter and friendship that followed.

After the show the volunteers tended to the raffle table and 50/50 raffle.  Dana announced the over 20 raffle winners, 50/50 winner and he thanked everyone that attended the show for their support.

MOA would like to thank everyone who came out for this special night.
