Stop the Stigma Day - April 2022 - all day event suitable for all ages

This event is about leveraging the power of community to bring attention to the stigma surrounding addiction. Stopping the stigma is something we can all do to bring about healing and recovery. This is not just a Malden event, it includes an online campaign for everyone, everywhere across the state and country. Planning for Stop the Stigma Day begins in January and includes online campaigning, working with Malden schools and businesses, delivering blue ribbons to businesses and schools in days/weeks leading up to event. We are currently developing a program to include Malden youth in planning and expanding SUD's outreach, we encourage all school age students to contact MOA to be included in this remarkable event.

Candlelight Vigil- October 17, 2021, evening event suitable for 18 and over

An annual event to remember those who we have lost loved to the disease of addiction and come together to reduce the stigma associated with substance use disorder. Planning for this event begins in early August and includes a need for preparing memorial bags, set up of chairs, contacting MHS officials, breakdown of room at conclusion of event. This event is also a qualifier for HS students that need to complete community service hours.

Malden Overcomes Day- August 2022, daytime event suitable for all ages.

This family event is all about community. Malden has embraced MOA and we want to thank the community by hosting this all about family day. Planning for MOA Day begins in early April and includes contacting companies for bouncy houses, contacting Malden sports groups and schools to be included in event, contacting community businesses to donate food/drink for event, early morning set up, late afternoon breakdown, monitoring of child safety on bouncy houses, volunteer videographer, manning food tables and much more. This event is also a qualifier for HS students that need to complete community service hours.

MOA Comedy Night - May 2022- evening event, suitable for 18 and over.

This event includes several local comedians, buffett dinner, silent auctions & raffles and several raffle tables. Planning for this event begins in early March and includes contacting local businesses for auction & raffle donations, contacting caterer for event food, contacting printer for program, set up of tables & hall decorating, set up of auction items, promoting sales throughout the evening for 50/50 tickets and raffle tickets, breakdown of hall at conclusion of evening.

Celebrate Sober - Dec. 31, 2021- late evening event, suitable for entire family.

Malden Overcoming Addiction hosts this FREE all sober event for the entire family! A safe, fun, and family-friendly night of food, music, dancing, and community.
Planning for the event will begin in early November and will include, contacting Club 24 for event, decorating hall during early evening on day of event, securing donations of water, food and sweets, promoting sales of tickets for 50/50 throughout the evening, breakdown of hall at conclusion of event.

MOA Rocks Addiction - November 2022- early evening event, suitable for entire family.

Event includes food, persons in recovery sharing stories of success, raffles, silent auctions & 50/50 and headliner band. Planning for event will begin in late August and will include contacting IA for event booking, contacting caterer, contacting businesses for donation of non alcoholic beverages and sweets, contacting printer for program, securing donations for raffles and auctions, promoting sales throughout the evening for raffle & 50/50 tickets, set up of hall, decorating hall, break down at conclusion of event.
